What stake does the city have in a private market or what it is promoting anyway? That it is transitional has no bearing on the issue. This is blatant discrimination that surpasses their rights as city officials.

During the 2005 Season some of you may recall I searched extensively for a "Nativity" scene to no avail in many stores. Finally got a small lighted on in a local pharmacy. I also posted a topic about this on two or three forums which brought many replies and discussion.

But this season I have noticed various sets in most big department stores and in the lobbies of malls. And in some places Merry Christmas greetings and signs are reappearing too.

It is sad to have to say that 'Christ' is being put back into Christmas. But good tis so.

Porter,

What makes me sad is the motivation to commercialize and capitilze on Christians instead of the stores having them because it is a natural extension of our lives. Hopefully, with time we'll be there again.

Slava Isusu Khrestu

Hello

Here in my home town, we have had a strange celebration!!!!! It seems that every Advent season the community churches (usually Anglican ) have a dramatic reading of Dickens Christmas Carol in church on several connsecutive evenings. Yes Christmas carols are included but it drives me crazy ( perhaps I should type "crazier" ) that the most important reading is "A Christmas Carol" and not even the Nativity Gospel!!!!!!!!!

I know that I must sound like an old fool but I had to write and see if anyone else thinks that this is one more step in the wrong direction.
