Ilian,
A Catholic Monsignor said it. Yes, I watched the meeting and the liturgy last night. It was Monsignor Robert Stern, and he did say the Eastern Catholic Churches would go away.

So, again like others have posted in the past "our mission" is for one day to die off and be absorbed into our equivalent Church.

Ignorance appears in many forms but Eastern Catholics have a wonderful opportunity to be a bridge that unites east and west.

Eastern Catholics are a stumbling block to those who are only looking for reasons to say "No".
Personally, I look forward to the day that the Eastern Catholic Churches disappear in a re-united Church.

I'm going to stir the pot a little... Is there any credence to the idea that the reunification could involve the reabsorbing of the Orthodox into the EC Churches. The other way around? Just thinking out loud, I don't know the logistics of it, just wondering...

I don't think it is possible to be 30 minutes behind. Time zones increment in hours. My mistake then and EWTN was, therefore, late in airing the event against the posted time. I knew that the North American Time Zones increment hourly (as part of the 24-hour World Time Zones) from Atlantic, Eastern, Central, Mountain, and Pacific. Amadeus, I must apologize to you. I just looked up what time it is around the world and saw a few, rare but existent, places where the time is incremented other than by the hour. Some increment by 30, and some even by 45 minutes. I assume that the local areas decided to increment time gradually from one time zone to the next instead of jumping an entire hour. I would like to be a fly on the wall if that idea was ever floated.

What do you do with 2 Patriarchs of the same "Rite?" Say, that tomorrow the schism ended, who gets to be Patriarch of Antioch, Ignatius IV or Gregory III? Who gets to be Patriarch of Kyiv, Lubomyr, Filaret, or Volodymyr? Even more strange is the prospect of one Patriarch from about 12 candidates.
(I know that the schism will not end tomorrow, this is a hypothetical situation.)

We are way off topic here. In order to continue this, I would suggest that this be started as a new thread in the appropriate section. I am closing this thread out, since the topic has worked its way through the initial post.
In IC XC, Father Anthony+ Administrator
Everyone baptized into Christ should pass progressively through all the stages of Christ's own life, for in baptism he receives the power so to progress, and through the commandments he can discover and learn how to accomplish such progression. - Saint Gregory of Sinai
