when I think of the word rapture, I am brought back to Ren and Stimpy, when Stimpy the cat would gush out "oh, rapture!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I wish Blondie, Madonna and the rest of those crones would get raptured to another planet.

Here is an interesting sample - a comparison of her singing my personal fav, "Heart of Glass":

Blondie - then... [youtube.com]

Blondie - in denial... [youtube.com]

I don't have any objections to aging, but have the good sense to know when it is time to retire! (or dress your age...)

Ah! The horror... the horror...

Honestly, I never understood the whole desire to focus on the end times or the whole mentality of "I'm saved and I'm going to float up to heaven at the rapture."

Someone actually asked me that "Are you saved?" question recently... again (I live in the south and it happens from time to time). My response was some variation on my standard: "Me? I'm a poor, wretched, rotten sinner who prays for God's mercy every single day! Aren't you?" Okay, I do follow up with an explanation that, as I see it, Jesus gave us a tremendous spiritual gift that we cannot fully comprehend with our puny minds. Faith doesn't distill well to soundbites or slogans.

Gordo,

I couldn't agree with you more. That last video was... well scary.

I married a blonde, Father, who watched the video and recoiled in horror!!! I mean, you'd think one of her grandkids would say "Stop, grandma! Stop!"

And yet the tour goes on...maybe it will get raptured?

On topic now, I have relatives who actually believe this theory of the rapture and think that we Catholics are full of problematic man-made traditions!
