Go figure:
Local Catholic diocese shuns retired bishop who'll speak here [azstarnet.com]
Quote
A retired auxiliary bishop from Detroit who is an outspoken advocate for sexual abuse victims and gays and lesbians will be in Tucson next week, but he's not being welcomed by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Tucson.
Tucson Bishop Gerald F. Kicanas said that decision is based on the identity of the group hosting the Rev. Thomas J. Gumbleton's talk, which he says takes positions that are contrary to church teachings. For that reason, the group's messages cannot be promoted on church property, the bishop said. He said he's had written contact with Gumbleton and made it clear that Gumbleton will not be in Tucson at the invitation of the local diocese.

The Bishop of Tuscon is doing the right thing. Bishop Thomas, throughout his episcopal career has promoted dissent against the moral teachings of the Church, especially regarding the area of sexuality. The group sponsoring him ("Call To Action")is "cut from the same cloth". Actually, I don't know that "Call To Action" can be truly characterized as Christian. At any rate, that would be a stretch. They reject the hierarchical structure of the Church, as well as a lot of it's defined teachings. They really fit in with the most Liberal of Protestant denominations. Bishop Thomas has also been in the forefront in promoting various Marxist and Extreme Left Wing political causes. The only question in my mind is why he was not removed from his post years ago.

I have responded to this group and sternly rebuked them and said that our Church does not want to be troubled any further with the heresy they push. I got a surprising letter back acting as if they were the greatest of group of people in the Church.
They really are that ignorant of Church Dogma and its Moral Teachings.
