How's this [churchofjerusalem.org] for a joke. The "Patriarchate of Jerusalem" claims everyone (Catholic, Orthodox, and protestants) except they are schismatic heretics.

Apparently we are all "excommunicated and apostate" [nasrani.org], and they are the only TRUE Church [nasrani.org].

I didn't know whether to stop laughing or start praying for them.

The silliest claim is that everyone went apostate but them, but their self-admitted first gathering was in 2004. Apparently they disappeared for 2000+ years and reappeared for us today.

I really hate the fact that they have usurped the Nasrani title for themselves. It is a legitimate title of the St. Thomas Christians of India and they are abusing it.

Dear Michael,

According to what I have read recently, 70 elders of Judaism translated the Old Testament into Greek. It's called the Septuagent, (or something like that). Each elder miraculously, translated everything in exactly the same way as the other elders. In time Jerusalem was sacked, and the only accurate translation of the Old Testament was the Greek one. Later on, the Jews decided to re-write the Old Testament into Hebrew, and eliminated certain parts. frown

Well, it seems that many Protestants also prefer to follow the later Jewish versian rather than the Greek one. confused

so what else is new? Christianity has been plagued for centuries by characters who have held that they were the sine qua non of the Faith, and everyone else were going to bust Hell wide open. I see it in some of the Protestant groups and the Catholics,as well as Orthodox. I have had people try to prove from the Bible that their particular sect was the bomb. so again, what else is new? take all of that drivel with a grain of salt, and laugh it off.
Much love,
Jonn
