Dear friend,
On Forgiveness Sunday, many of us who follow the Byzantine liturgical tradition participated in the Rite of Mutual Forgiveness in our churches. We asked each person, "Forgive me" and our response was "May God forgive us both." Many of the people there were familiar faces, while others were total strangers, yet we know that since Christ is truly present in each of them, we offered mutual forgiveness in the name of the Lord.
On this first full day of Great Lent, I would like to say that I have offended you in any way, in thought, word or deed, please forgive me. I offer forgiveness to you without hestitation and trust that God forgives us both.
I wrote the following article
http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Troy/1187/forgiveness.html that appears on my website on the subject of forgiveness and hope that it may be helpful to you as we embark on this Lenten journey together.
Please pray for me a sinner and please know that I also am praying for and with you!
