Amongst devout Christians such as those found on this board, we all probably know, or know of, the ceaseless attacks and obstacles of life which normal people would find unbelievable if we were to even try to start discussing or sharing them...or they would simply find human and secular excuses to what you must be doing wrong for them to be occuring.

We of faith know differently...we, the faithful, know of our superhuman struggles and prayers to attain those same things which often come so easily for others. We know of spiritual warfare and its casualties, yet we also know of the peace of God which keeps us going, and how these struggles do not turn us away from God, (so foolish is the evil one), yet strengthen our resolve, no matter what.

For all those who are presently suffering from ceaseless blows of life from the evil one, whether they be in mental or physical health, in calamity, in slander, in losses, in loneliness, in sadness, in relationships, in finances, or in employment, I would like you to join me in prayer: for in God, ALL things are possible.

May our Lord God hear the prayers of His people, and may His blessed Mother, watch over us, protect us, and intercede for us in our every need and want. AMEN!

In Christ, our Hope,
Alice

Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil...

For thine is the kingdom,
and the power,
and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.

Obstacles ???

I am very sad to see a battle of words and ideas distrupt the forum during the Great Fast/Lenten Period, may the Lord have mercy on us and forgive us.

Indeed James, indeed. As an Orthodox priest who happened to view the goings on last night said to me today: "the demons at Great Lent were out at Town Hall last night".

Lord have mercy!

People we don't even know are reading this forum, and our example must be one of politeness and charity to all. What if we have scandalized someone who was thinking of converting to Byzantine Catholicism or Orthodoxy? Would they see us as loving people and something they want to be part of, or would they say that they would want no part of us? What if someone is searching for Christ in their life, and they wished to experience His love and consolation through His followers, and they read some of our posts? What and how would they feel?

How we interact with each other can make or break someone from following Christ. A visiting priest/St. Vladimir professor who gave a sermon at my church on Sunday of Orthodoxy said that although he was brought up Orthodox, he really didn't care about religion at all. He said that it was only after he happened to view an interaction (while visiting Greece) of a certain monk named Aemelianos with some lay people, that he started to think about the Church. He said that the love and kindness in which the hieromonk treated the people was so great that he wanted to be part of that of that. Something to think about! smile

The late Bishop Fulton J. Sheen said:

'Politeness is charity, charity is love, and love is God'!

In Christ,
Unworthily,
Alice
