Sisters and Brothers in Risen Christ, our Life and Saviour,

This soul was meditating and reading the life of Father Cleopa+, who was a true Father.

He was saying a little story. Imagine, my brethren, a forest of pines, in full winter, somewhere in the Oriental Carpathians, Romania.

A humble path crossed this forest, and still crosses it. On this path, going to their work, a few forest men met two monks, hermits, with bare soles, namely without shoes or such stuff.

Those forest men, rough people, were surprised, and they had only one question:

'Where do you come from, Fathers?'

Those hermits answered simply, o Lord!, so wonderful...

'We come from mercy of God.'

My brethren, do you understand? From mercy of God.

At their curiosity, the two monks did not begin to say locations, names, and other passing matters.

From mercy of God.

What strong words!

This reminded of Avva Evagrie, who asking his Father, how to resist against all the demonic assaults and temptations, he heard an answer as this:

'You are as a ship, shaked by the turmoiled waves. You need a rope and an anchor.'

'What is the rope and what is the anchor. And the ship?'

'Ship is your soul, the anchor is our Lord Jesus Christ, and the rope is the prayer of heart, namely: "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy upon me a sinner!"'

Therefore, sister and brothers, let us be humble, let us be gentle.

Let us strive to nourish a sincere love for any soul. Sun is for all.

A Father said that the report between love and righteousness is 4:1. We must find a wise balance.

Let us beg the mercy of God, now, in a continuous present now. We come from mercy of God, we live by mercy of God, we will go into the mercy of God.

Let us be humble and gentle, my brethren. This is our mantle of glory for eternity. For where there is humbleness and gentleness, there it is also our Lord Jesus Christ.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy upon us, take our hands, and lead us to the Heavenly Emaus. Open our hearts to obey your life-giving words.

May God bless you all now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amin.

In Risen Christ,

Marian+

Marian,

That was beautiful and true. I shall print your post and meditate upon it. May God bless you.

Marian, please give us the citation for the book that tells this story. Please also tell us if it is available in English. I want to read more of this Fr. Cleopa who gave such wisdom. Thank you.

I was reading a series of little books named "Father Cleopa speaks to us". I have no knowledge of any book in English. You may try on amazon or so. Father Cleopa Ilie from Sihastria Monastery, Romania.

However, you may see a little here:

Another dear Father to my soul is Father Paisie Olaru:

I like especially the third photo.

May God have mercy upon us. Amin.
