As simplistically as I can put it. 40 or 50 years ago if Cho Seung Hui had asked 10 people what would happen if he shot as many of his classmates as he could, and then killed himself, 9 of those people probably would have told him that he would have to answer to God in the next world. That's what's gone from this society. If we dig deep enough we're all mentally ill.

I tend to agree with the Rev. Franklin Graham on this matter. I'm wondering more and more if this kid was not possessed by a demon - or several demons.

I also agree with Rev. Frankly Graham. I recall many years ago watching a woman on the 700 Club. She told of how a killer held a knife to her neck. She began praying, and he suddenly dropped the knife and told her he was sorry.
One of the participants on the program asked why did that happen, and he was told that it was not him, but rather the demon that possessed him that was committing the violent action. When the lady prayed, the demon left, and he apologized.
I know that Karl Marx was considered possessed by a demon, as was Lenin, Hitler and no doubt Stalin...if one should wonder, how he was so easily able to convince Pres. Roosevelt to hand him Eastern Europe, even against Winston Churchill's objections.
I also read that the woman Sigmund Freud based his theories on, kept insisting she had a demon inside of her, as did Bismark, who by uniting Germany, destroyed the balance of power in Europe. That culminated in the two World Wars of the last century.
Also, when reading the biography of Saint Nektarios, he mentioned he was told by a demon of a possessed woman, that there were three demons as powerful as him. One was in control of Russia, (that was the year Lenin took over), and the other was in China.
Out of curiousity, I read the life of Mao Tse Tsung, and it seems that it was about that time, that he acquired his political philosophies. I might be wrong, but I believe that sixty million people died in China because of his policies. I also believe that sixty million died in the Soviet Union because of Lenin and Stalin, not to mention that between Stalin and Hitler, who knows how many died in World War two. The end result was the total destruction of Germany, so that the trials were held in the only building left standing in Neurenburg, and above the bodies of 30,000 dead people. For two years the people of Germany starved.
We must realize, that the fiends are not those that commit the acts, but rather the one's they have subjecated themselves to.

The victim of a mentally ill murderer is no less dead than the victim of a murderer who does not suffer from mental illness-in other words, I'm sure that the fact that Cho was psychotic doesn't lessen the sorrow of those who grieve the deaths of his victims. However, as someone with multiple family members who suffer from mental illness, remarks such as this that minimize the reality of mental illness and its very real effects offend me. Ryan

Zenovia[/i] that is an old historical fallacy. Roosevelt did not "Hand" Eastern Europe to Stalin. The Red Army was already IN Eastern Europe and the Western Powers were not about to start another hot war in Eastern Europe after going through the death and destruction of the Second World War-at the time, there was great hope about the UN and for the US, the only probable policy was containment.

Even though someone may be possessed or mentally ill do they still bear some spiritual responsiblity for their actions or are they exempt?Legally the insanity plea is legitimate as is "a devil made me do it"plea but it would seem that on a spiritual level mass murderers, slave owners, etc. mentally ill or demon inspired still committed sins against others causing their death or grievous suffering.

Okay, okay this is it. Bear with me one last time.
In the 1960's and 70's Black Muslims took the last name X to represent the fact that black americans' surnames are slave names.I don't believe that is done anymore but maybe Cho chose x with that in mind (Everyone's heard of Malcolm X)but not necessarily for the same reason and A could easily mean Ali. Is this too wild?
