Maybe we should start our own church. Church of Georgia, perhaps (the state, not the nation). wink

Ha. Well, maybe, but the Vice Prez of the Confederacy (Alexander Stephens) was from Georgia, and his grave not more than 45 minutes from where I sit, so maybe we could name it after him. smile

Or there being innumerable Protestant "denominations" is part of the unifying plan of the Holy Spirit?

I'm sorry for being sarcastic, but really. I thought we've grown beyond such foolish statements.

Some ignorant Latins believe that Eastern Catholics are heretics becasue they have no experience of Eastern Catholicism whatsoever. Most Eastern Catholics that I know are soldily Catholic in their faith, and the term "heretic" in no way applies to them. However, as a Latin planning to Joing an Eastern Church (Ruthenian) I believe that there are some in the Eastern Catholic Churches that are heretics. They are the ones who reject dogmas definded by the Churh in council such as the Immaculate Conception, Papal Authority, Purgatory, etc. I recognize that as Eastern Catholics, we may have a different theological emphasis and use different theological terms, but we must maintain the unity of the faith as most of us do.

Give me a break. the Protestant Churches are not part of the Latin Church. They are a whole other animal.

Dear Afraates,

Your friend being a recent convert has much to learn yet. I suggest he speak with a priest on these views of his.
I am taking it for granted your friend is a convert to and in communion with the Roman Catholic Church of which Pope Benedict XVI is the hierarch.

Sorry, but they are your illegitimate offspring. Martin Luther sure wasn't an Orthodox priest.

Christ is Risen!

It seems that the spirit of Pascha has been extinguished in some. Though some have tried to handle this thread in the spirit of charity, others have not. This thread is now closed and appropriate warnings are going to be issued.

Everyone baptized into Christ should pass progressively through all the stages of Christ's own life, for in baptism he receives the power so to progress, and through the commandments he can discover and learn how to accomplish such progression. - Saint Gregory of Sinai
