O have you heard... Bart of Constantinople needs new spectacles, and Alexei of Moscow heard about it. So, Alexei offers to pay for them, on one condition... that the new style is to be rim-less!

A few years ago, Ottawa elected its first woman mayor. When asked if she felt she faced any special challenges because of her sex, she said "well, obviously I have to be at least three times as good as any of the last four male mayors. But that won't be much of a challenge!"

I'm rather new to Orthodoxy (in communion with Rome and not in communion) so please explain the joke to me.

Dear Dr Eric, the key to the joke is knowing that the Slavic word for 'Rome' is 'Rim', hence 'rim-less'.

You guys and your Slavic languages... That stuff goes right over my head. I only learned Spanish, French, Mandarin, and Italian. And not very well, I might add.

Alexandr, It all started with giving them shoes. This let them out of the house and it's been downhill ever since! I am also reminded of a tiny bit of verse. I will leave it incomplete as the female of the species is educated enough to not need the obvious stated... Men have many faults, Women have but two: Everything they say And everything they ...(Now, off to a monastery until this all dies down...)
