I just got word that otets Dr. Ihor Monczak has passed away. Until his retirement about a year ago, he was parish priest at St. Basil The Great UCC in the Montreal area suburb of Lachine. If I'm not mistaken, in the past, he had served in the Church administration in Rome and taught at St. Paul's University in Ottawa. I believe that otets Ihor grew up in Oleszyce (in today's Poland) and would have attended the church that's currently the subject of the thread entitled "Greek-catholic church in Oleszyce in ruins". Although funeral details haven't been finalised, they are expected to take place on Thursday, June 14.

Vichna Yomu Pamiat!

This is the second death of a retired Montreal area priest in the last month: the Rev. Sergio Gar, retired parish priest from the Holy Ghost parish in Point St. Charles, passed away in May.

May both their memories be eternal!

Everyone baptized into Christ should pass progressively through all the stages of Christ's own life, for in baptism he receives the power so to progress, and through the commandments he can discover and learn how to accomplish such progression. - Saint Gregory of Sinai

Immortal God, hear our prayers.

God be glorified in this passing.
