I really dislike folks disrespecting members of the clergy. Yes, there are some rotten apples in every basket and we were made painfully re-aware of that with scandals like the one in Boston, but the truth is that most of those who go into the religious life do it to serve God and their fellow man. Answering their calling is not easy and it's not funny when these selfless people get mocked. Well said !!! (I wish we still had the smiley for applause.) -- John I am so glad that someone said that! I LOVED the old moving 'smiley' emoticons, (and especially the clapping face and the shocked face) but alas, we have a great new program, so the old adage holds true: 'you cannot have EVERYTHING'! I have not been exposed to icons enough to understand what is new about that. Why is that your favorite?

Terry, I was referring to the prostrating smiley, not the icon!

I've been watching Bollywood movies recently, much of what has been released from Hollywood for the last two years have been very poorly constructed stories. Dear Terry, Where can I get the Bollywood movies. I remember years ago, that I loved watching them on the Indian program, but lately, they haven't been showing any. Of course I'm dying to see the latest hit: Jhoom Baraba Jhoom. I see bits and pieces of it on: http://avstv.com/index.phpI just love their choreography and music. They are all so talented...not to mention so good looking. God Bless, Zenovia

I really enjoyed Guru at the theater, I borrow movies from an Indian co-worker too. If there is an ethnic Indian population local to you, there may be stores which sell them at prices far lower than American video cassettes and DVDs. I would suggest to watch out and make sure there are English subtitles, sometimes there are none. If there is no English on the package, ask an attendant or a shopper.
I have been frequenting two local movie theaters, which are converted dollar store cinemas. They usually have one showing time a day, and it may be standing room only if you're late. For take-home movies there are many Indian movie shops where I am. They sell new or used or pirated movies for 3-10 dollars a pop.
I've recently seen Kabul Express. It had strong characters and was funny at times, though I didn't let their scripting of a beautiful "American journalist" bother me. She would ask the dumbest questions.

Zenovia, You're probably aware of this, living in White Plains - you live in "Little Kerala" (a southern Indian state), NY. There are thousands of Malayalees (Indians from Kerala), the vast majority of whom are Catholic (Syro-Malabar, Syro-Malankara) or Orthodox (Syriac/Indian Orthodox). There are also dozens of family owned grocery stores (and videos) right in that town. Here are a few Churches: St. Mary's Syrian Orthodox Church [ stmaryswhiteplains.com] St. Peter's Malankara Catholic Church 370 Willow Grove Road Letchworth, NY 10984 Syro-Malabar Catholic Mission 36 W.Nyack Rd. Nanuet, NY 10954 Fr.Thomas Maliekal (C.M.I.) S.H. Church,Scarsdale. White Plains, NY

Mr. Williams was raised an Episcopalian according to his Wikipedia article. What his faith is now, who knows.

I think it's funny how even on the Syrian Orthodox church's website, the Christchild has blonde hair.
I understand Scandinavians, Germans, Russians, and Britons making Christ blonde, but beginning south of the Alps and the Danube it gets a bit confusing as to why it's still done. Especially in Kerala, India!

Perhaps it isn't hair, but the light of His glory? This icon has a dark haired Jesus: [ Linked Image]
