I asked this months ago.. No official response. Now I am going to push this a bit harder.

Where is the Children's book for the RDL?

I'm 33 years old and used to read my Children Edition all the time when I was young. Not only did it teach the Liturgy and Prayers (Satisfied the Soul) it also helped me LEARN how to read (Satisfied the Nuns!)

All jokes a side, while the RDL is debatable, the lack of a Childrens edition is not. One of my core and honest objections directed to those in power of the RDL is the apparent lack of youth fore-thought. I base my accusations from my own experience with my children. I dont believe anyone watched an eight year old become frustrated by not knowing when to flip back and forth. I doubt there was an evaluation of the lack of the Priest Prayers and its impact on an inquisitive nine year old childs mind. I doubt it was taken into consideration how the three periods (ie: ... end of the Priest prayers before the response) doesn't equate proper grammar and could literally (albeit not probable) cause scholastic issues (ie: Teacher, they use three dots all the time in my Church Book, so it HAS to be right.) They didn't listen to the voices of our children say, "the new books have a lot of the same things over and over and we get lost."

And while I don't agree with the RDL, I am an adult and can forgive and adjust and adapt and accept what is law. But forgetting our children and allowing them to suffer through a book that is as thick as a typical college course edition text "... that I cannot forgive." And if there is a cause for just protest, a single itch that must be scratched, it is not on the grounds of restoring the DL, but of the one truly needed change that MUST occur. And that cause is not to ask support on restoring the past DL versions, but to demand an "Official" RDL book for children. Only by lack of remembering our future are we are doomed to speak of our current Faith in past tenses.

For this cause, for our future, for our children, and for the continuing Faith in our Catholic Leaders, I ask your support by making your mark on this thread, keep it up top, and pray that those who can assist with the change takes notice.

Warmest Regards,
Matthew Katona
