Dear Friends:

As promised by His Holiness, Pope John Paul II, to His Beatitude, Patriarch Maxim of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, during the Holy Father's apostolic visit last year:

A presage of things to come?

This is incredibly generous of the Holy Father. If only the sentiment were reciprocated a bit more often. frown

But I like those Bulgarian Orthodox!

I heard that Patriarch Maximos said something to the effect (to the Pope) "so when are you returning to the Orthodox Faith??"

That would solve all our problems!!! smile

Dear Brian:

As I told Alex somewhere, being orthodox Catholics will suffice! wink

And, overheard at THAT exchange was Pope John Paul II's riposte to HB Patriarch Maxim: "When are you re-joining THE Cartholic Church?" cool

(BTW, please accept my congratulations on your Christmation this Sunday, the solemnity of Sts. Cyril and Methodius in the Bulgarian Church.)

We all hope and pray that the Bishop of Rome would see the light, recant of the errors and embrace the Faith once more...........

His Holiness Patriarch Maxim enjoyed the visit of the Pope, and according to my great-uncle, the Holy Synod was also very receptive. As to Logos comment - the Catholics do have their old cathedrals, both for the Latins as well as the Eastern Catholics.

And we hope and pray that His Beatitude Alexei II renounces his errors of communism and Soviet ideology and returns to Orthodoxy. Unlike many of the sainted hierarchs and confessors before him, Alexei II has never made a public statement renouncing or denouncing the Soviet state or ideology.

To Patriarch Maxim, a great Orthodox hieararch, Mnohaja Lita!

Well, speak for yourself.

Everyone, including myself, values your comments, Anton, but isn't this a little obnoxious for a Byzantine Catholic Forum (or an "Orthodox in communion with Rome" Forum)?

No worse than some of the ultramontane comments you've made, you've said things that no one in Rome itself would make these days. An unaware reader would never know you aren't even a Catholic yet. Moe

Refresh our memories, Moe. I am having a hard time recalling anything said by TotIL that comes close.

Dear Friends,

Both Catholics and Orthodox believe themselves to be in possession of the fullness of the Christian faith and Tradition.

I would suggest that we not accuse each other of error etc. and follow through with the same Christian charity with which ecumenical Orthodox and Catholic theologians and bishops do when they meet each other.

We're no bishops and, as hard as we pretend, we're no theologians either smile

Let's just love one another in the Lord and await for reunion in God's good time.

So, the Russian Orthodox Church and those in communion with it are not Orthodox, in your point of view??

I thought you were Byzantine Catholic, not member of the ROCiE or HOCNA...

"To Patriarch Maxim, a great Orthodox hieararch, Mnohaja Lita!"

Sorry, but according to your logic, he's an apostate too...

Dear Christianus Apostatus,

I'm truly sorry when we EC's offend Orthodoxy and Orthodox Christians in particular.

Alex
