I just walked by the t.v. with CNN tuned in, and what did I see but two men holding hands and being interviewed about their gay marriage. In a kind of shock, I watched. It seems that they were legally married in the State of Iowa (in the U.S.) last week. A lower court in Iowa ruled that same sex marriage was o.k. in that state. That ruling was stayed (put on hold till a higher court can consider it) four hours later. In the meantime, this happy couple got married. And, as the video showed, they said their vows and kissedsick; and then they went on their honeymoon; and now they are being interviewed on t.v. about it all. Thoughtfully, they aren't yet ready to adopt kids because they are still in college . . .

You know: I can see equal rights for all people. But gay marriage? crazy I just saw the latest example, and I'm not liking it . . .

But, hey, this is CNN. Following that story, there was a story about how a man called upon his Wiccan gods and won the lottery . . . crazy

Lord have mercy.

Since a "honeymoon" is a term with no particular religious referent (it's often used in connection with politics, for example), I suppose that it makes no special difference who experiences a honeymoon or chooses to use the word.

ACTUALLY, Father, I learned from no less a source than the FARMER's ALMANAC (something no scholarly library should be without! smile ) that the term of "honeymoon" originated with the kidnapping of young maidens by men who took them off in the middle of the night to make them their wives.

Since I was married in the daytime, I guess that would exclude our little trip to Williamsbug some 18 years ago.

And clearly these two guys from Iowa did not read their Farmer's Almanac either! (Now how is that possible?!? laugh )

John, I agree with your reaction. sick It is a shame that CNN has taken upon itself the mainstreaming and normalization of these kinds of things. As for those two guys, now willing pawns of the media with a social agenda, I'll say a little prayer for them right now that they return to good sense...

...Amen!

Oh, dear! I think I shall eliminate the word "honeymoon" from my vocabulary. Kidnapping the spouse of one's choice should not be encouraged.

My only vist to Williamsburg was after a funeral, of all things. It was pleaant, even interesting.
