I don't know if anyone posted on this yet, but this is the sign of a community made up of true disciples of Jesus.

Actually, should be "gunman's widow," not widow's "gunman.

Joe,

Thanks for the post.

BTW, you should get a job writing "catchy" headlines!

Now THAT is the most impressive and edifying phenomenon that I have heard of for a long time. May God bless these good people, and may their amazing generosity and forgiveness bring blessings upon us all.

Definitely. They are examples that we can learn from in this pilgrimage of life. Amen.

Love your enemies, bless those who curse you.

We can learn a lot from the Amish!

I have always loved these people for their courage and way of life...
Now I also admire them for following the teaching of Christ.
When I was young and crazy I wanted so badly to join such a group - today I am only crazy, but I found out that they do not follow the teachings of the Catholic Church (actually of what I understand they are some form of Protestants)...

But it makes me wish we had a Catholic community (maybe a Byzantine one) that is willing to live as a true united community (maybe with computer allowed smile ) and live to be a true united church in our Lord.

I will be the first one to contribute my Sweat, knowledge and money to such community ....

But too bad the "I wish" words don't work in reality...

Eli,

Glory to Jesus Christ!

If you check the archives, there were some serious discussions as to where we were going to set up our Byzantine Village in the United States.

When I re-discovered the forums I have seen some final posts in those discussions - but it seems that most people abandoned the ship...

I always dreamed of an organic self sufficient farm in the middle of a big family community that shares the same faith...

May I suggest Madonna House, Combermere, Ontario? They were among the first in North America to get into organic farming, and they definitely share the same faith. At the very least, do go for a visit (Caution - either do it soon, or wait until late Spring; northern Ontario in the winter is no picnic). Best to let them know you are coming.
