Diocese of Little Rock [ arkansascatholic.org] Apparently, this is a sede vacante diocese, and the Diocesan Administrator, Msgr. Gaston Hebert, had this to say inter alia: On Sept. 18 Msgr. Hebert personally visited with the sisters and their chaplain, Father Erik Pohlmeier, also pastor of St. John and St. Mary churches in Hot Springs. After reading the declaration, Msgr. Hebert gave the eight sisters in attendance one week to prayerfully consider their decision. Msgr. Hebert said he gave them a week because he wanted the sisters to "knowingly and deliberately" make their choice between the Army of Mary and full communion with the Catholic Church.
He returned to the monastery the night of Sept. 25 and accepted the decisions of six of them to leave.
"It is a painfully historic moment in this Church," Msgr. Hebert said at a press conference Sept. 26 at St. John Center in Little Rock. "These are my friends. I have known them my whole life."
[...]
Our Lady of Charity and Refuge opened in Hot Springs Sept. 27, 1908, when five French-Canadian sisters arrived at the request of Bishop John B. Morris. At one point, there were 27 sisters living at the former "mansion" on 10 acres on Malvern Avenue. Between 1910 and 1968 the order operated a girls' boarding school, trade school and laundry.
[...]
The future of the order and monastery has been questioned. The order owns the property on Malvern Avenue. The order was founded based on the teachings of St. Augustine and St. John Eudes, but it is an autonomous religious order and is not connected with any other monastery outside of Arkansas. (emphasis added) Four other nuns of the monastery either did not have, or being old, were deemed not to have, a relationship with the Army.

So, the nuns and other members would rather belong to the Army of Mary than receive the Body and Blood of Christ?! That is a sure sign of delusion because the Theotokos would never lead them away from Christ.

Many demons disguise themselves as holy entities... Second Corinthians, chapter eleven, verse fourteen, I believe; Satan transforms himself into an angel of light, and he has his ministers of "righteousness" to give his lies an appearance of credence. read the Word, people, read the Word. Much Love, Jonn

John that almost sounds like a protestant chant! Do you not think we are steeped in the Word of God. Some of us have read and prayed the WORD since we were teen agers and many of us have heard the word proclaimed on a daily basis for over 50 years. Stephanos I

Next, get that darn Society of Jesus suppressed!
It's happened before (twice?), and in many people's opinions, it's high time it happens again...

Or, let's pray that the Society of Jesus be ruled again by those Jesuits who continue to want to live the vocation the way St. Ignatius gave it to them.
On the other hand, I would vote for suppressing all the various "Liturgy Offices" growing like stinking barnacles on Peter's boat!

Alexis It happened once and for many and very complicated reasons. It is now looked upon as a great injustice historically and the order was revived in 1814.

Who looks upon it as a great injustice? It's not that I don't believe you, I just haven't heard that.
Of course there are many great Jesuits, but the overall Society....

Alexis, Who looks upon it as a great injustice? It's not that I don't believe you, I just haven't heard that. This article, from New Advent, describes the "Jesuit Legend", which is a bunch of lies concocted by enemies of the Order, and which may have played a part in its Supression. There are also articles there that deal with the details in and around the suppression, and the eventual rehabilitation of the Order. The Jesuit Legend [ newadvent.org] Just in the interests of fairness. There is nothing there that has anything to do with post Vatican II situation of the Society. Michael

Prayer of a convert Lord God we pray for the renewal of the Society of Jesus, draw them to yourself, lift them up, help them to become promoters and defenders of the faith and especially of the Pope of Rome, Benedict XVI, grant that the Holy Catholic Faith may triumph over all her enemies, both those withing and those without. And help us all to reamain loyal to the truth, which you have revealed for the salvation of the nations. Make the glory of this house surpass the glory of the past, may all nations stream to your temple, raise up the fallen, rebuke the wayward, heal the sick, bring comfort to the suffering and dying. We firmly believe that you are the One True God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we believe that your diving Son became Man, died for our sins, and that he will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, before the great and awesome judgement seat of Christ. We believe these and all the truths which the Holy Caholic Church teaches, because you have revealed them, Whod can neither deceive nor be deceived, and to you we give all honor glory and worhip, Father, Son and Holy Spirit forever and ever and until the ages of ages. Amen

We seem to be off topic here with the bringing in of other orders. The Society of Jesus is not the topic here, but the these nuns and their order which has lead to terrible situation of having to be excommunicated by the church.
If you want to grind an ax towards the Jesuits or any other order, do not do so in this section. Any further posts concerning it will lead to this thread being closed.

perhaps it should be an Orthodox and a Catholic chant as well.however, if what you say is true (and I have no argument with your words) fewer and fewer of us would be suckered into joining cults or following strange paths, as did the nuns in question. perhaps they should have been reading the Word. oh, Protestant, like Catholic and Orthodox, is a proper noun. it was at the feet of Protestants in my Baptist seminary that I really learned to divide the Word correctly. alas, in my University days, a number of Catholic students took intro to Bible course, they only read what was assigned, and that from apostate teachers who did not treat the written Word of GOD as coming from Him.you are correct in saying "some of us". it's a shame that the average Protestant child knows more of Scripture than the average Catholic adult. can't speak for the Orthodox, because I honestly don't know. Much Love, Jonn oh, I was always the one the Presbyterian, Baptist, and Church of Christ students wanted on their teams when it came to playing Bible Trivial Pursuit.
