I really despise most television programming, but we cannot dispute the effect it has on the psyche of America. Now that pushing non-commital, pre-marital sex as normal is a 'fait accompli' and having successfully changed the younger generation's mentality about it, are they also going to be changing the idea of the soul not going anywhere after death?!? Personally, I find that there is so little creativity and imagination in Hollywood, that they have to stoop really low, depressing or macabre...
Pushing Daisies
8 pm/ET ABC New
There's nothing on TV quite like this darkly whimsical new series, starring Lee Pace as a pie maker who possesses a touch that brings the dead back to life. OK, so the premise is far-fetched (Pace's character, Ned, needs to touch the deceased a second time within a minute of reviving them to reverse the effects or someone else dies), but the show's colorful look and pithy tone more than make up for it. In tonight's premiere, Ned discovers his childhood sweetheart (Anna Friel) has died. Of course, he wakes her and opts against returning her to eternal slumber. The problem: Love is in the air, but no touching is allowed. Anthony Layser
