So, do your own thing in accordance with your ritual patrimony. We will do ours!
'Tis time to jettison, for once, one's particular theology or preferences as a veil for non-conformance and to heed the call of [b]our Holy Father to prayer (and penance) for lasting peace in the Middle East, especially in the Holy Land!
I thought it was as simple as that!

Amado,
No need to get huffy! My goodness...I said that I would pray.
That Sunday is not a day of penance does not preclude anyone from DOING penance on Sunday if they so choose. I simply pointed out that this is not in the spirit of Sunday to do penance.
And this is not just the Eastern patrimony, BTW. It is the Christian interpretation (East and West) of the meaning of the Lord's Day. It is not traditionally a day of fasting or penance. The pope's proclamation is for all to intercede to the all-Merciful God for peace in the Middle East. Do you not think that I can express my solidarity by prayer? Apart from the fast for communion, I do not intend to fast on Sunday. But I WILL pray!
And I will do penance on Wednesday and Friday of this week for the good Pope's intention!
