I've seen that article, but thanks for posting it. Setzer's version of O Holy Night isn't as good as Pavarotti's but it's still pretty nice.

I was just going to ask you what you thought about it. Very "Elvisy" isn't it?

Setzer doesn't really remind me of Presley. I think he was alot more influenced by Gene Vincent and Carl Perkins.

Yes, Gene Vincent sang. He also died young and was one of the few 50's performers I liked. The Stray Cats covered a few of his songs like Cruisin, where Setzer does some outstanding picking, and Race With The Devil.

If you've ever seen the cult classic Quadrophenia, there's a scene early in the movie where a Mod and a Rocker are at the public baths, and the rocker start's singing Gene Vincent's "Be-Bop-A-Lula" (Vincent was popular with the Rockers), the Mod get's mad and start's singing "You Really Got Me" by the Kinks, louder.

That's right Be-Bop-a-Lula, Steve Allen made fun of it when it came out.

Did you used to live in Southern Illinois Lawrence?

I knew a Larry who looked like a Hobbit, and was as tall as one, but he was an extremely proficient guitarist.
