I had the privilege of genuflecting on my left knee before my Sovereign, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Queen of Canada, in 1993. And I have a picture of me doing this that I'm looking at as I write this.

That's very interesting about the UOC in Canada kneeling at those times!

In regards to kneeling as a purely medieval practice of the Westerners, you should go check out Ben Johnson's www.westernorthodox.blogspot.com/ [westernorthodox.blogspot.com] and scroll about half way down the opening page. There's a post on kneeling and its historical and theological background that we'd all find of interest, I think!
