Dear Friends,

I must share this story about Blessed Bishop and Martyr Vasyl Vsevolod Velychkovsky, C.Ss.R.

A few years ago, I met a Roman Catholic Redemptorist priest. He mentioned to me that when he was a student in Rome, a guest arrived at the Redemptorist General House. He was there only for a few days. After this guest left, this young Redemptorist was talking with the other students who were there. It was revealed in their conversation, that each of them, unknown to each other, approached this guest and asked him for his blessing. They all sensed a special holiness from this person.

This person, this guest, was Bishop Vasyl Vsevolod Velychkovsky, C.Ss.R. One can only assume that the holiness these young Redemptorists experienced, was a holiness that was a result of the sufferings that Bishop Vasyl endured for Christ and His Church.

May the Shrine of Blessed Bishop and Martyr Vasyl Vsevolod Velychkovsky, C.Ss.R, be a place of pilgrimage where many will experience the holiness of God.

Thank You, Father Dmytro,

Do you know if the students knew of their visitor's personal story before they sought Vladyka Vasyl's blessing?

From what I can recall from my conversation with this priest, the students had no knowledge of who Bishop Vasyl was or what he endured.
