Glory to Jesus Christ!
I think it is difficult enough for the faithful not to bless themselves when the deacon is incensing them.

Is it the custom among the Ruthenians to cross oneself and bow
at each petition of the litanies?

At the mention of the Most Holy Theotokos?

Or to not bow and cross themselves when the CHURCH is being incensed and not them at all.

I can't say I saw this too often (if at all) in the Ruthenian parish I attended, but I tend to make the sign of the cross and bow at each petition during the litanies.
