Good Evening:
Slava Isusu Khrystu!
Just wondering if there may be any Edith Bunker or Archie Bunker fans out there. Edith was such a humorous character, as was Archie one could help but find them to be humorous. Edith was so refreshingly naive. Deep down, Archie had a basically good heart.
Peace,
John Doucette

Dear John,
I loved that show!!!
What a sense of sarcasm poor Archie had! Yes, and Edith was so innocent... their eccentric personalities and situations were very real, and for that era, that was a refreshing change for situation comedies--I think that is what made the show so endearing...Those really 'were the days'!
Alice, who misses the creative television minds that could make people laugh without inappropriate sexual and/or crass comments every two minutes.

Hi Alice:
Yes, today there are not too many redeeming things about television. It often makes me wonder what is happening to the world and our value system as humans. I feel badly for the children, the many pressures that they are under and the parents. Parenting today requires a lot of blessings and hardwork on the part of both mothers and fathers.
One of my favorite episodes was when Gloria discovered Women's Liberation and Edith made something new for Archie to try for Sunday breakfast and Archie said "What day of the week is this?" Sunday and what do I have for breakfast every Sunday of my life"?
Two eggs drain the grease toast three slices buttered lightly prune juice 6 oz. coffee, mountain grown
Right! and I don't need no cheerful change from the hum drum morning fare you just emunerated. He should have said enumerated
Edith, a dreaded disease is coming into our home and your daughter's bringing it in here.
Take care,
John Doucette

I am a fan of understanding pop culture and television through the lense of cultural criticism. It is remarkably interesting how Archie is potrayed, and how that potrayal speaks to values the writers/producers were trying to promote or convey.

I'm a huge fan of the show! I have every season on DVD. It's my number 2 favorite. M*A*S*H* being the first. TAXI is the third runner up. One of the funniest lines of the show was Archie telling Meathead, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, and you are one dumb Polock"

Yes, Archie was quite a character, wasn't he. Another comical episode was when two of Mike's Hippie Friends Came to Visit. Archie commented, "I send in the mortgage payments, they send out the invitations".
