http://www.huffingtonpost.com/arianna-huffington/hey-good-lookin-the-ri_b_76651.html...As far as being fit/buff/slim, or whatever other adjective is often used for our candidates, (see article I linked), I think that it is important not for our eye enjoyment, but because being so symbolizes a healthy concern for one's health, a good self esteem, self control and the sensitivity to care about how others view them...and since this particular role is for the leader of the world's super power, a role setting that candidate on the world stage as a representative of our country in many, many ways, it tends to become important.
