Hello. I have a gray comb-bound book of Vespers c/o of my aunt. It is from St. Mary's Church, 5329 Sepulveda Blvd., Van Nuys, CA 91401. The book has no musical notation in it, but it does have a series of dots over each word. There are a total of 165 pages.

No publication information - date, who, where. Looks like a private publication. The table of contents has:

Vesper Psalm p.2
Psalm 140 p.7
Blessing p.13
Dismissals pp. 21,22
The Octoekos (Tones) pp. 25,33,41,49,58,66,74,81
General Menaia pp.89,96,96,99,103,107,111,115,117,120,124,127,130,134,138,142,146,153,156
The Prayers of Light pp. 161-165

Is this still a good text?

Ed,

That sounds very much like the older seminary edition (at least that is what everyone I know calls it). My copy seems to be hiding from me at the moment, so I cannot compare the page numbers. [I will attempt to find my copy later.]

The text would still be good, so far as I am concerned!

Since, however, it is not an official edition and carries no approval for general use, it should not be used for public celebration. Only a local bishop can give such permission and it should not be assumed.

John
