sieglinde has me curious. How does someone find really good supplies for making vestmenst - like the galloon and such, besides some of what pops up instantly on an internet search. There has to be much more out there. Thanks!

I got the galloon, crosses and fringe from Istok Church Supplies, at http://www.istok.net. Interesting and affordable brocades can be found at regular fabric websites (some silk, some not, also you have to look at the whole design to see if you could imagine ecclesiastical use).

I found a bolt of material at a fabric store that was going out of business of all places. It was a 'white-white' with a silver thread running through it forming crosses. I had gold galloon and crosses placed on it, and it made up beautifully. However, I think he can really only wear it for the Christmas and Pascha feasts, I am not certain about how much it can be drycleaned. So it will be speacial for that. Glory to God!

Can you believe they gave me the whole bolt of material for $60. The people said it had been there forever. I said, no, the Lord was just waiting for me to see it(I guess most people would have no idea of what to do with it). So, I know what you mean by just looking biggrin

Thanks, the set you made are absolutely beautiful!

Glory to Jesus Christ!
We sometimes use LaLame in NY City for vestment materials.
Then there would be someone else to actually make the vestments.
Catalogue available.
We have been most satisfied with the results.

Istok is quite reasonable for fabrics, galloons, etc.
