I'm not on the old calendar, but I do try to put the tree away by the beginning of Lent. wink Then again, sometimes I just don't worry about it.

I still have my nativity Icon out with a candle burning in front of it.

Before I go to bed, I'll swap it for a Theophany Icon.

We try to keep ours up to the Leavetaking of Theophany on 14 / 27 January, unless it is just to dry. But we never take it down until after Theophany on 6 / 19 January. (By the way, we always put it up on 19 December / 1 January since every one is around because it is secular New Year's Day.)

P.S. We always have a real tree - no artificial tree for us!

Of Course the Christmas tree is still up. Why even ask? Today is Jordan/Theophany. We are still getting carollers at home.

Do you think their being Irish is in any way pertinent?

My secular lapsed Baptist roommate of indeterminate ethnic pedigree still has his up... Could have something to do with working 60+ hours a week in his case.

Absolutely!

They're the epitome of shanty Irish. The original 70 year old front door has had two broken windows covered with cardboard for the last six months.

BUT we have had DIRECT TV installed since around halloween.

Priorities, I guess... crazy

Hold on, I'm Irish and have direct TV. I might be green trash too... grin We actually just back from the Irish pub down the street from our parish and I had a couple of pints with lunch.

We had a family friend that one year didn't feel like taking down their artificial tree. They just redecorated it for every holiday, so they had the Valentine's Day Tree, etc.

I took my Christmas tree down today, but my outdoor decorations are still up and will be until Feb. 15th or "Old Calendar Groundhog Day."

I'm also writing to the civil authorities to protest their refusal to collect Christmas trees for recycling after January 10th!
