Actually the arrangements for the ordination of married Protestant clergy who became Catholics were first made by Pius XII in favor of Lutherans, so there is no particular reason to think that Pope Benedict XVI would be opposed.

On the other hand, experience teaches that a Catholic (or Orthodox) priest with a family who do not belong to the same Church that he does is a recipe for grief.

Fr. Stephanos,

I know one non-Anglican who was allowed to make use of the Provision - Fr. David from the Diocese of Joliet, he was Lutheran.

Mark Kurowski is a married ex-Methodist minister who was allowed to go to Mundelein Seminary, but I don't know if he's been ordained a priest yet.

Coming Home Network International (CHNI), led by Marcus Grodi (himself a convert minister from Presbyterianism like Dr. Scott Hahn and his wife Kimberly), assists Protestant ministers on their journey to the Catholic Church by utilizing portions of the "Pastoral Provisions," initially geared to cover only converting Anglican/Episcopal clergy.

I think CHN has more than 100 Protestant clergy currently under its wing (it has helped hundreds other), helping these converts decide whether to continue as ordained clergy by undergoing Catholic seminary training or to learn to live as members of the laity.

Both Mr. Grodi and Dr. Hahn, whose respective wives converted later, chose to discontinue their calling in the ordained ministry and found their respective successful ministries as Catholic laymen.

Thank God for the rich harvest in this the "new springtime" in the Catholic Church as envisioned by the late Pope John Paul II during his inauguration of the "New Evangelization" at the turn of the 3rd millenium!

I was only aware of Allen Hunt [blog.ancient-future.net]... If there is a second mentioned in this thread (and there could very well be more!) I had not noticed.

It took my wife an extra year to convert. Her only stumbling blocks were that she wished to be sure and studied longer than I did and she was a bit leary of communion by a common spoon. Now we can't imagine being anything else but Eastern Catholic.
