You have a beautiful religious culture and I understand that you take the statue of the Baby Jesus from the manger to Church on Candlemas (Our Lady Candelaria).

Great.

Thank you so much for you Kindess Orthodox Catholic. Here in New Mexico we have a beautiful tradition of re-enacting the events of Christmas Eve when no place could be found for Mary to give birth to Jesus. We go from home to home, with two people dressed as Mary and Joseph. At the door of each home (these homes are preplanned btw) we sing about how we are looking for a place for the birth of Jesus and the household sings about how there is no place there. Last home that we visit is the home that allows us in for "the birth of Christ" and it is there where we celebrate with feasting.

Hmm, could avoiding Hagis be the very reason for starting Lent? smile

Everyone baptized into Christ should pass progressively through all the stages of Christ's own life, for in baptism he receives the power so to progress, and through the commandments he can discover and learn how to accomplish such progression. - Saint Gregory of Sinai
