Dear East and West, You are of Hispanic background? You should have said that right away! Certainly, no descendant of Teutonic Spain would be amenable to Palamas! You have a beautiful religious culture and I understand that you take the statue of the Baby Jesus from the manger to Church on Candlemas (Our Lady Candelaria). Great. Alex Thank you so much for you Kindess Orthodox Catholic. Here in New Mexico we have a beautiful tradition of re-enacting the events of Christmas Eve when no place could be found for Mary to give birth to Jesus. We go from home to home, with two people dressed as Mary and Joseph. At the door of each home (these homes are preplanned btw) we sing about how we are looking for a place for the birth of Jesus and the household sings about how there is no place there. Last home that we visit is the home that allows us in for "the birth of Christ" and it is there where we celebrate with feasting.

Too bad E&W can't enjoy some Haggis with the rest of us, seeing as how they went and jumped the gun on Lent. Hmm, could avoiding Hagis be the very reason for starting Lent? hawk, who has never seen "enjoy" and "Haggis" in the same sentence before

And with those words this thread has gone its course and needs to be available for reading purposes only. If we can not keep threads on-topic, they risk the chance of going the way of this thread, closed!

Everyone baptized into Christ should pass progressively through all the stages of Christ's own life, for in baptism he receives the power so to progress, and through the commandments he can discover and learn how to accomplish such progression. - Saint Gregory of Sinai
