I live close to the Canadian border. There are Orthodox Churches on the Iron Range - but we want a Byzantine Church which is only in the Twin Cities.

Any beginning resources anyone can recommend would also help us. I have been looking at web-sites for books - but at this stage they all look advanced.

This is why my dad was raised Roman Catholic; my grandparents moved to North Dakota in the mid-30's.

Glory to Jesus Christ! Slava Isusu Christu!
Olga, a good book written for a Latin RCIA audience is Fr. George Appleyard's Light of the East: A Guide to Eastern Catholicism for Western Catholics. You can order that and other goodies from the Eparchy of St. Josaphat's bookstore at http://www.stjosaphateparchy.org/Store.html

St. Constantine's Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church is a beautiful church in Minneapolis if you can ever visit sometime.

It is difficult when you live at a distance from an established parish; living in Kansas and assisting communities in three different states I very much understand your situation.

There are some things that can be done as a domestic church at home to begin to experience the riches and beauty of the Greek Catholic traditions. You can pm me for some more info if you feel more comfortable via email or other means. God bless you on your journey.

This is my favorite book.

101 Questions on the Eastern Catholic Church is good too.

I have to admit a special personal prejudice in favor of 101 Questions by my dear friend and our fellow forum member, Deacon Ed. That said, Father George's book and that by Father Fred are also excellent resources.

Many years,

Neil
