Hello all!

I'm not usually one for making announcements of this sort, but I received some good news from my bishop, the Most Rev. Kevin C. Rhoades, last week.

Here we go:
Quote
Having observed your progress in the course of your priestly formation and having received consistently positive evaluations from your seminary authorities, I am morally certain of your suitability for ordination as a deacon. I, therefore, officially call you to the Order of Deacon.

I ask you to present yourself at Saint Patrick Cathedral in Harrisburg on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. for the Mass during which I will ordain you to the Diaconate. In anticipation of your reception of the sacrament of Holy Orders, I ask that you prepare yourself well through prayer as well as reflection on the sacramental configuration to Christ the Servant you will receive through diaconal ordination. You are being called to be a servant of the mysteries of Christ and to be a servant of your brothers and sisters.

You will receive a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the Sacrament of Holy Orders, "the sacrament through which the mission entrusted by Christ to His apostles (and their successors) continues to be exercised in the Church until the end of time"(CCC #1536)

My the Lord bless you with His abundant grace and peace in these weeks preceding your ordination. May the Blessed Virgin Mary, the handmaid of the Lord, assist you with her loving intercession!

Sincerely yours in Christ,
(signed) +Kevin C. Rhoades

WOW! 7 years in seminary are finally coming to a real fruition! (sign of relief)

I respectfully request the prayers of those who use this forum, both for me and my two classmates who will be ordained with me.

In Christ,
Jonathan P. Sawicki
