Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amin!

Brethren in Christ,

I am very interested in learning how to carve / chip carve wooden crosses, especially the Byzantine type.

[Linked Image]

I need so much informations about:

1. patterns
2. tools
3. wood

Here the most used wood is from limetrees. But I would appreciate also the olive wood etc.

In essence I want to learn and to wood carve crosses. Not big, but for wall, for neck, for desk, small and medium size.

Hope you understand something from my English.

Thank you.

Do you really mean "lime".

I think you mean linden wood.

I know from my family these wooden crosses are very common in all parts of the Carpathians.
For example, the monks were famous for carving them as well as wooden spoons from linden wood.
Lay men also carve them.
It might be easier just to look in Romania for patterns and examples.
