Friends!

I have a request. I'm trying to find images of icons of Archangels Michael and Gabriel that are typically put on the outside of the nave doors.

Michael holds a sword, and a scroll saying "I am the General of God's armies. Those who enter with an impure heart, I shall strike down with my sword..." or some such.

Gabriel is holding a quill an a scroll which reads "I write down the interior state of those who enter herein. Those who enter in faith and love, I will defend and protect. Those who enter with an impure heart, I will swiftly destroy..." or something like that.

Basically, kicking butt and taking names.

The only image of this, which I'm told is in many old world churches, is from a Conciliar Press diptych.

I'd like another option.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

I am nor sure what your question really is?

I have seen two angels, not necessarily Michael & Gabriel holding scrolls, in frescoes above the back door of the sanctuary in many Orthodox churches in Ukraine and Romania and also in one church in Canada.
Is this the image you are talking about?

Possibly. I'd have to see them and be able to read the inscription.

See the description above.

Do you have any photos of them?

They are also mentioned in the Painter's manual by Dionysius of Fournia, so I'm sure someone has them in their church. I just haven't seen any images of this kind, and I'd like them for my church (which is a mission, and cannot afford custom icons.)

Thanks for any help.

Father bless,

I have photos of the icons that you are talking about but I could not upload them here so I added them to the photo gallery page. I have never seen prints of this icon type for sale, but now that others on the forum know what they look like maybe they'll know if there are some for sale somewhere. Hopefully we'll hear if this is so.

In Christ,
Nino

Thank you Nino, those are indeed the icons I'm searching for.

Hopefully someone will know where to get them or where to get reproducible images.
