Yikes! I found it. What happened to the parish? It says St. John's R church. What jurisdiction?

I checked the website. The new church should be magnificent.

Click on to "Our Future", and you will get your answer as to what is going on with the parish.

P.S. Click on to "Photos". The "Easter" (note the non-use of the term Pascha) photos use the term "Mass". We Greek Catholics in Communion with Rome never (or rarely) use the term "Mass", and the term "Pascha" is returning with a vengeance!

I've noticed this as well. My only guess is that the ACROD has seen no reason to pay attention to the Latinizations that crept into use, once the threat from the Latin Rite was eliminated. Maybe with the new generation, the old habits will finally be put to rest.

IMHO, it is all quite bizarre. Met. Nicholas , since his enthronement, has been on a kick to Easternize the jurisdiction. (He did study at the supressed Greek seminary on Halki!). But, he has met resistance from Parish Committees! I have an acquaintance from N.J. (originally a Scrantonian). He is originally from a Greek Catholic parish in Scranton. He told me he likes "the old Greek Catholic way", and hates iconostases. His mother's relatives were instrumental in establishing the ACROD parish in Scranton. One day, he came up to me and said "the Orthodox are right!". I said "about what"? He said "they don't have icon screens". He was referring to the ACROD parish in Scranton. They now have an icon screen, but it is of very recent vintage! One must remember that ACROD was established in the wake of the squabble over the prietly celibacy issue. Otherwise, they are not much different from the Carpatho-Russian Greek Catholics in the U.S. (who, at least in one Eparchy, have re-established the married priesthood!). Go figure!

Much depends on the individual parish - in general, where the parish was able to retain its church edifice, it also retained a "conservative" outlook in many things, including worship. In such an atmosphere, the emphasis was that the "Uniates" had changed, while the "Carpatho-Russian Greek Catholics" had remained as they were in, roughly, 1936.

Let's not be too quick to be critical or holier-than-thou.

I note that St John's calendar consistently uses the terminology Divine Liturgy and, having read several hundred websites in the past 18 months - principally Ruthenian, but also UGCC, Melkite, Armenian, and other Eastern and Oriental Catholic, I can assure you that there are any number out there still employing Latin terminology.

I must be a Johnny come lately but I have still not found the Church listed on the ERA website. I see that it is St. John's about which you are talking but where is it on the website?
