FATHER SERGE:
Father bless!!
With 300 pounds of kielbassa, you could have a successful parish fundraiser.

I am not quite sure along with a few other posters, is this keilbasa fest off for the 9th? If not, could we post up some details for those are coming at the last minute from out of the area, so they can find it, especially time and how you can be located.
Thanks all for the clarifications.

Father Anthony: Father bless!! Saturday August 9, 2008 Time:12-1pm until 5 p.m. Reservoir Park, Tyrone, PA (exit I-99 at Tyrone and follow 453NORTH, about 5 minutes from the interstate). All are welcome. The theme is Slavic foods. Please bring food and drink. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited by Tyrone Borough law in the park.
Please bring canned food items as a donation to St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank, I will take the donation up the them on the following Tuesday as this is the first day after the picnic they are open for donations.
Anyone who wishes is welcome to attend Vespers at St. Vladimir Orthodox Church at 6pm which is about 15 minutes from Reservoir Park.
Questions? Private message either myself or Theophan.
We are counting on those who are attending to bring food items/drink items.
Thank you! I think we're still on. I had an email from Matt this morning, replied to it, and he hasn't replied back. As far as I know we're still on for a park in Tyrone where he's reserved a pavillion and the time is from noon to 1 p.m. start and end around 5 p.m. I'll get to Sam's Club and get some sides. A few pounds of potato salad, macaroni salad, some baked beans. I'll get a pack of plates and some eating utensils, too. Oh, and napkins, lots of napkins. BOB

The devil is in the details. No one other than the 4 of us spoke up and said we were coming. Stay tuned. I had a full day today to say the least.

The Blessing of the Lord!
Alas, we'll have to make more kielbassa when you get here - we're not allowed to import it from the USA (and please don't offer to smuggle 300 lbs of meat!).

For all the members of the board:
The "kielbassa throwdown" was not as exciting as expected, but still a good time.
Due to lack of responses, we dwindled down to three guys sampling smoked and fresh kielbassa. We cooked the fresh in sauerkraut and beer, and grilled the smoked over charcoal. We decided each was good in its own way and have also decided to hold off the judging until a rematch next year because both fresh and smoked came from the same maker in Shenandoah, PA. In the meantime, we'll be working to get a place at Legion Park in Hollidaysburg for sometime in July 2009 so everyone will have plenty of advanced notice.

Jesus said where two or more are gathered in his name he is there! So, wow, seems to me like there were four guys I am sure it was a good time of fellowship also. Bless you all!

I'm still eating the sauerkraut that we cooked the kielbasa in. You all have no clue what you missed.

OLS: Well, that's where we disappoint the group. We got all the food and the other goodies together and no one had a camera along. I did get some good sides to go with all the kielbassa, however. If you get a chance, go to your local WalMart grocery and pick up their mustard potato salad--has a bite to it and comes with dill pickles in the mix--and their baked beans that come with pulled beef in the sauce. Their macaroni salad was up to the challenge, too. All strong flavors; no wimpy stuff. I had a fresh cucumber right out of the garden for a big tossed salad. With a thirty pack of Coors to wash all this down . . . Bet there will be more people at the next one. BOB
