November 5 Priests for Life Conference Call on Election Results and Pro-Life Implications [ priestsforlife.org] Fr. Frank Pavone and Priests for Life will be sponsoring a conference call to discuss the implications of the election results on human life issues. I plan to attend. Hope you are able to as well. We have an uphill battle over the next 4 years with possibly both houses of congress and the executive branch squarely in the pocket of "Big Abortion". God bless, Fr. Deacon Daniel PS: Here is Fr. Pavone's letter: Friends,
You are invited to join pro-life leaders to discuss the election results on Wednesday night November 5 from 9 to 10pm ET. Sign up now on the form below.
Elections have consequences, and the consequences for the unborn – and for the battle to protect them – are particularly significant. Every pro-life organization is affected. The options that the pro-life movement has in the legislative, legal, and political arenas, and the probability of success for various initiatives, change as a result of the elections.
Our movement, at the same time, does not look to elected officials to do our work for us. The work of advancing the pro-life agenda remains our work. Elected officials either make that work easier or harder. But either way, this is a movement. Regardless of the outcome of any local, state, or national election, together we must be proactive – not reactive – and make aggressive plans to ensure that the pro-life cause is moving forward, continually growing in size and effectiveness.
As a movement, therefore, it is critical for us to assess together the results of the Elections of 2008 and to begin to move forward in the light of those results. On Wednesday night November 5, you will have the opportunity to join with a team of highly respected national leaders for a teleseminar from 9 to 10pm Eastern Time. During this hour, we will focus our attention on what the election results do and do not mean for our movement, and will consider the most fruitful and important trajectories for our work to take.
We will encourage and equip one another for the next chapter of our movement.
Leaders comprising the panel will include representatives of various facets of the movement:
Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life Janet Morana, Co-Founder of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign David Bereit, National Campaign Director of 40 Days for Life Joe Scheidler National Director of the Pro-Life Action League Brad Mattes, Executive Director of Life Issues Institute Peggy Hartshorn, President of Heartbeat International Dan McConchie Vice-President and Executive Director of Americans United for Life Bryan Kemper, President of Stand True Kristan Hawkins, Executive Director of Students For Life Of America Michael Schwartz, Chief of Staff, Senator Tom Coburn Matt Lockett, Bound4Life Please join us and spread the word! You can sign up for the conference call on the form below. You will be able to follow the teleseminar by phone or over the internet. You will be able to go to specific websites and download specific documents that will assist our conversation.
You can also submit questions on the teleseminar event page, either in advance or during the call. At the end of the hour, a number of our panelists will answer the questions that have been submitted for up to an additional hour.
You and others will also be able to listen to a recording of the teleseminar and Q-A session afterwards.
There has never been a more important time for the pro-life movement to be united in focus and direction, and on Wednesday, November 5, you can join top national pro-life leaders on this teleseminar to chart the course for our nation’s future.
God bless you!

The Admin alluded to an endorsement for McCain of PFL. I have not found an outright endorsement - some positive statements mainly for Palin, but no outright endorsement. Was one ever made?

Fr. Deacon Randy, I do not recall any official endorsement, but I think his opinions here speak for themselves. There were also calls for Democrats to return to their pro-life roots. A Grave Mistake and an Abiding Hope [ priestsforlife.org] God bless, Fr. Deacon Daniel

I would also add that we should pray that the Democratic Party move towards more balanced-and I believe more healthy-positions on issues such as education, taxation, and social welkfare programs.

Pro-life Democrats on a national ticket? I don't know if all the calling in the world would change that at this moment. But then, as a majority, the party may be more forgiving to dissenters. I was thinking that the meeting would make mention of the promise Obama made to Planned Parenthood that S. 1173 would be the first bill he signs. The Freedom of Choice Act is very dangerous, it undermines the progress pro-lifers have made in their states. http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=s110-1173Terry

I'm very curious about the strategies Fr. Frank Pavone recommends this evening.
BTW, is there such a thing as Eastern Catholics for Life?
I know that there is an Orthodox Christians for Life organization...

God bless,
Fr. Deacon Daniel A statement after the election is not really an endorsement - there simply does not appear to be an overt, direct endorsement by PFL for McCain before. I consider that to be a positive thing for PFL, by the way, considering the position of Catholic bishops on embryonic stem cell research (which also certainly destroys innocent life). Eastern Catholic for Life? ECFL? Let's get going!!!

Eastern Catholic for Life? ECFL? Let's get going!!! I'm on board! I'm certainly open, interested and willing to do something like this. Here is the Orthodox Christians for Life site: http://www.oclife.org/We could plan to meet at the 2009 March for Life as one of our efforts. It should definitely be pan-Eastern (Byzantine, Syrian, Armenian, etc etc). Our purpose could be educational and apostolic. My family and I plan to attend. Anyone else interested in meeting there? God bless, Fr. Deacon Daniel

Fr. Deacon Daniel,
Perhaps you could have a small group walk together and carry a banner. Do you know of any Orthodox priests in the area who would find joining the march agreeable and convenient?
