Out of honesty I must say the coming Obama administration has some good ideas. One of them is their website soliciting ideas and opinions: http://change.gov/ I recommend that those of us who disagree with him on moral issues post RESPECTFUL and CONSTRUCTIVE comments, especially regarding the agenda topics of "Family", "Health Care" and "Women" (Click on the "More Agenda Topics" link to see the whole list. Unless we witness a miracle, the Pres-elect is not going to go 180 on abortion, homosexual "rights," embryonic stem cell research or potentially euthanasia (to make health care affordable.) But we can ask for "consciencious objection" status to we don't have to support, facilate or finance these issues. For instance, if FOCA (Freedom of Choice Act) is approved, medical personnel and Catholic hospitals would have to perform abortions and adminster abortion-inducing drugs. Doctors in training would have to learn and perform abortion techniques, etc Please, please register and post your respectful comments so that the administration will recognize the strength and size of our opposition. May God inspire, bless, and protect from deceptions our President-elect. Fr Deacon Paul

My opinion is that Socialist ideology branded and framed with appealing rhetoric will still lead to Socialism.
What alarms me about the FOCA is the last line, that the 'freedoms' will be applied to former, current, and future laws and regulations. All the work done by the pro-life movement in the states will have to start from scratch.
It does not make sense to allot 7 trillion of promised spending for bailouts and cash infusions when our country's GDP is a little more than double that amount. The spending is unsustainable, and an Obama Administration would more likely increase government spending at an even greater rate than the Bush Administration.
Our trade is going to come to a halt if our debtors cash in their holdings, and then at that point we will have no one to borrow from. I do not look forward to hyperinflation.

I've seen that site. It's all propaganda for socialism. From each according to his ability to each according to his need. Socialism just doesn't work. We do not need a nanny state government controlling our ability to work and take responsibility for ourselves and our families. We need a small government that is limited to exactly what the Constitution established: to protect us and to provide infrastructure. There is no Gospel mandate for government run socialized medicine or anything else socialist.
Capitalism is the unequal distribution of wealth. Socialism is the equal distribution of poverty.
We cannot ignore the fact that abortion - in all forms including infanticide - is the Sacrament of Obama and his Party.

My opinion is very, very positive to most everything but FOCA.
If FOCA is passed, I sincerely hope every Catholic hospital shuts down immediately; perhaps that will shock the government into repealing it. I think President-elect Obama is nothing if not a prudential fellow, and I truly do not believe he would allow a gigantic percentage of the nation's hospitals to close, and millions to suffer, simply because said hospitals don't want to participate in murder.

Alexis Alexis, I think that you are right. It will be interesting though to see what happens in congress. Sen. Reid from Nevada, Sen Nelson from Nebraska, and Sen. Casey from PA are supposed to be prolife democrats. Let's see if they really are! Joe

They are not pro-life. Both have no problem funding abortions. Sen Casey voted to reverse the Mexico city policy as did the others. Sen Casey has said he will not confirm any judge who is against Roe. We do not need to wait. Actions have proven louder than words. Look at the voting records of all the above. My Mormon friends feel the same way about Harry Reid as I do about Ted Kennedy.
Sen Casey is not his father. May his Father's memory be eternal.

If he were pro-life, I can't see how he would head the Senate.
He's a politician and hedges his vote.

My brothers and sisters,
I share your concerns but our posts here will not make one iota of difference. We need hundreds, thousands of like minded people to intelligently state their objections BEFORE any action is taken!
Now is the time to act. Once an action is taken it is rarely reversed. Obama has committed to the abortion industry that signing FOCA will be one of his first acts........we have less than seven weeks to raise enough opposition to prevent it.
I've sent 3 emails to Sen Casey in the past two months and he hasn't even responded with a reply..... go right to the top!

Of course it is. But I agree with Paul we have to try. This is the only avenue the common citizen seems to have to voice concerns so I think for now we have to work with is being made available to us to be heard on these important issues for life. Will we be ignored anyway? Maybe, but I think we have to try.
