My eyes were not quick enough - but I also think that I saw Vladyka Mark of Berlin.

I think that it is noteworthy to add that His Holiness served the services for the feast of the Entry of the Mother of God before his repose. After that he served a moleben before the relics of St Tikhon Patriarch & Confessor in which he said the following which were almost his last public words:
“I am convinced”, said the Patriarch, “that through the prayers of the Most Pure Mother of God, the Lord strengthened St Tikhon in his Patriarchal service as a confessor. To his lot fell the most difficult and trying time at the beginning of the persecution and of the repression. He appeared as an intercessor for all of us before the Throne of God. St Tikhon, the newmartyrs and the confessors of the Church of Christ pray for and aid in the restoration of Holy Orthodoxy in our Russian land.”

Dear Friends,
I was away on pilgrimage the day of and after Patriarch Alexei's funeral.
I am wondering if there was much television coverage on it (network, cable news)...and if so, did they explain the service at all, or just showed a quick clip.
Was the coverage adequate or was it a quick obligatory segment?
Thank you for your answers.
In Christ, Alice

BUMP....
I hope that you do not mind dear friends, but I have someone awaiting an answer, and I am afraid that this will quickly get ignored.
Thanks!

In Christ, Alice From what I saw on BBC, CNN, Al Jazeera and Fox News, there was practically no coverage... just some quick clips.

Met. Hilarion is visible at 1:29 and the following few seconds. I think I saw Archbishop Mark of Berlin too. Photo-report of the funeral on the website of the Russian Church Abroad showing Metropolitan Hilarion. http://www.russianorthodoxchurch.ws/synod/2008/12pafuneral.html

Thank you for your responses dear Anhelyna, Asian Pilgrim and Father Ambrose.
The question put to me was if television news showed much of the funeral, as a matter of curiousity about media coverage of such a monumentous religious event of Orthodoxy. I guess the answer is, sadly, negative.

May he rest Roman Catholic in peace? Not your fault; it's just that two words Roman Catholic appear at first glance to be part of the posting and caused me to do a double-take! Fr. Serge
