I wonder if Father Taft's lecture (and the others) will be available on CD or cassette.

I emailed the seminary and was told that the talks would be made available online.

I'm not proud. Just so long as I can hear and/or read the material.

Preliminary reports indicate that the lecture was thoroughly well received, with a standing ovation.

I admire Taft immensely, and he is undoubtedly the living world-authority on the liturgy, but I have heard he is a big fan of the whole gender-neutral language phenomenon so infecting the Ruthenian Church in the USA, is this true?

TO ask third parties if he is a "big fan" of something is inviting a good deal of speculation... Maybe we can find what he has written, if he has written anything on the matter?

Thanks for providing this link. And a big thanks to St. Vlad's for providing the audio for the talks online. The diverse backgrounds of the speakers resulted in some unexpected though informative points of view.

What his views are and what he has written directly on the issue of gender-neutral language is a good question. His McMAnus Award lecture [fdlc.org], commented on somewhat in a forum thread, link, produces a lot of smoke but no actual fire.

A comment on the symposium: His keynote address was informative, but I especially liked his remarks and questions that followed the other symposium talks, especially that of Spinks.

Since nobody is perfect, it is best to rejoice in agreement and do one's best to avoid disagreement.

Did anyone listen to it?

I am sure that Father Taft is a really good historian.

But I think his ideas for the Revised Divine Liturgy are nuts.
