Gingrich to Convert to Catholicism
Sarah Pulliam

Buried in an large New York Times Magazine profile of Newt Gingrich is a little nugget of information: A Baptist since graduate school, Gingrich said he will soon convert to Catholicism, his wife’s faith.

Prayers for Newt, although I find his politics abhorrent, I hope his conversion goes smoothly and that his previous divorces do not cause hinderance.

Prayers for Newt. May he become a strong Catholic and an eloquent witness of Catholicism. Many of his ideas have been quite excellent over the years.

I still pray for them every day and have their picture underneath the Icon of the Protecting Veil.

OH I agree, with Jeb Bush being Catholic, and if you ever noticed in their private living quarters was an icon of the Theotokos. Too, the attention they gave the Pope. Also, Tony Blair converting. I really think we are going to see a lot more notable figures coming into the Catholic Church.

That would be neat to see.

I hope the canonical impediments to his conversion have been or is being taken care of.

Gaining one politico of Mr. Gingrich's caliber somehow dissipates the acrid taste we have for Ted Kennedy, Kerry, Pelosi, Sebellius, VP Biden, and their ilk!

(Bobby Jindal, the newly elected Indian-American governor of Louisiana and who delivered the Republican response to the recent address of Pres. Obama to Congress, is a Cathlic convert from Hinduism!)

Welcome home Newt!
