I'm so out of the loop I thought that Chicago was still in the running. But then, who would choose the cold, when one can have So. Calif.?
God be with you all at HRM.

I still would like to get the final story on why HRM switched jurisdictions? HRM has not switched jurisdictions. It will continue to be under the omophor of the Romanian Catholic Eparchy of Canton while the monks live at Saint Andrew's Abbey in Valyermo. HRM was under the Metropolia of Pittsburgh at their founding. They are now under the the Eparchy of Canton. As to the final story, it really does not matter. What matters is that they are now where they are. Monasteries can and do change jurisdictions based on how they discern God leading them. We can certainly be greatful for the support they have received and continue to receive from Bishop John Michael Botean. God grant them many years!

It is good to have episcopal support. It's also good to follow the Monastic model.

Griego:
I was referring to the switch between the Ruthenian and Romanian jurisdictions, not regarding their move to Valyermo. I have heard five different stories as to why they switched jurisdictions and was hoping I'd get a final answer one of these days.

Yes Stephanos you are right. Van Nuys it was was.
HRM is the first monastery to change juristictions (one sui-juris church to another in the Catholic fold). A Canon law paper is (probably 'was' by now) being written on this subject by an eminent canon lawyer.
