A thread in the Prayer Forum, in regard to Father Benedict Groeschel's recent stroke, mentioned the guest on his last program - Immaculée Ilibagiza, author of “Left to Tell”, a biographical work on the Rwandan atrocities of the 90's. I happened to come across this recently and read it.
While it leaves a lot to be desired as a literary work, the book is a powerful documentation of a horrific time in modern African history. It merits reading to understand ('be aware' is probably a better term, since I'm uncertain that those who are not themselves capable of extraordinary hatred can ever 'understand') or be again reminded of the incredible evil that man can inflict on his fellow humans.
There are other books on the era, but the first-hand accounts by this young woman of what she saw, experienced, and suffered are a powerful testimony.
Many years,
Neil

I caught the program on the radio the other day. It was very good.
