Does anybody have a website with some information on St.David of Whales? The only thing I can find is a wikipedia article.
In Christ,
David

David, Firstly, your patron is St David of Wales - not Whales As for info on him, I suspect our Welsh brother, DewiMelkite (Dewi is David in Cymric, the Welsh language), might be able to supply additional material, but here's a few links: March 1 - St David of Wales [groups.yahoo.com] from the Yahoo Celtic & Old English Saints e-group, the project of our own Hieromonk Ambrose St David, Patron of Wales [storynory.com]Saint David of Wales [data-wales.co.uk]David (Dewi) of Wales [satucket.com]Catholic Encyclopedia - Saint David [newadvent.org]Icon, Troparion, and Kontakian of St David of Wales [comeandseeicons.com]St David & St David's Day [sucs.org]YouTube - How St David Became Patron of Wales [youtube.com]Many years, Neil

Wasn't Ahab the "Sheik of the Burning Sands"? Remember his girlfriend, Fatima? "There he saw fatima laying on a zebra skin rug, With rings on her fingers, bells on her toes and a bone in her nose, eeeeyye.
There she was friends and neighbors, laying there in all her radiant beauty, She was eating on a raisin, had a grape, and an apricot, and a pomegranate, A bowl of chitterlings, two bananas, three hershey bars, four burritos, Sipping on a frozen margarita, listening to a transistor radio, Watching the grand ole opry, reading rolling stone magazine and singing rocky mountain high".

Would you consider Captain Ahab (of Moby-Dick fame) a saintly figure?

In his monomaniacal pursuit of the White Whale, he bares a striking resemblance to Cyril of Alexandria chasing after Nestorius, or Augustine of Hippo hounding Pelagius. Besides, it wasn't Captain Ahab, but Ahab the King of Israel I had in mind. He may have gotten bad press from the Yahwist authors of 2 Kings, and he may have had a shrew of a wife but Syrian and Moabite sources reveal a very great king who ably defended the Northern Kingdom. His misfortune was to get on the wrong side of the historians.
Let that be a lesson to you all!

I do rather hope that (unlike Lyndon Johnson) retains his clothing, especially when photographers are around.

Would you consider Captain Ahab (of Moby-Dick fame) a saintly figure? The only saintliness I associate with Melville's work is that of anyone with the patience to read and enjoy it. Many years, Neil (an inveterate bibliophile and fan of classical literature, but who has no appetite for Melville's writing and finds it difficult to say to anyone - 'it's a classic, you must read it')

Tanks Neil You're most welcome, David - but I can't resist asking if you have a unique form of dyslexia that involves the letter 'H'? WHales versus Wales Tanks versus THanks Many years, Neil
