Dear Friends,

Please play for my quick recovery from my wisdom teeth surgery today. I know it's no big deal, but I've been bleeding a lot when I'm not supposed to, and I'm so incredibly busy with so many things going on in my life (starting law school very soon, moving in to my apartment, etc.), that I really can't afford a long recovery! frown

In Christ,
Garrett

As someone who has spent a fortune in time and money in a dentist's office, yes it is a big deal. Nothing is worse than dental pain. Prayers for your quick recovery.

It's normal to bleed. But not stay at the pc (I hope you came only to post that intention grin) ! And put compresses of ice. The recovery is a bit fast.

U have my prayers, brother.

Alas! Sometimes circumstances do not allow us to recover properly, in our own beds, as we should. When I had all four badly impacted wisdom teeth extracted (major surgery), I had to deliver an important briefing to the government the very next day. Looking much like a chipmunk with a load of nuts in my cheeks, a popped three Percodans, gave my spiel, walked to the back of the auditorium, lay down on the floor, and slept for the remainder of the conference.

To this day, I have no recollection of what I said in my briefing. It may have been . . . interesting.

Thanks for the prayers, everyone.

Everything's going ok. Yeah, I look a lot like a chipmunk, as Stuart mentioned he did. I can't tell if I've ripped some stitches out in the back right corner of my mouth...guess we'll find out if I get dry sockets or not (I heard those are extremely unpleasant). Today is the third day, and they told me it would be the worst. Hopefully from tomorrow on out it won't be bad...and I surely hope not, because I can't get any reading done while on this Percocet; it loops me out and I can't really focus on anything other than a television!

Oh, they're giving out Percocet, now? Loopy sounds about right. I still wonder what I said to all those generals while bombed on Percodan.

This reminds me of a discussion I had with these two English girls while I was traveling in Greece a few weeks ago. Somehow we got on the subject of how overmedicated America is, and they couldn't believe that words like "Xanax," "Hydrocodone," etc. were part of the everyday American lexicon. At least, simply speaking for my generation, I assured them that they were.

Apparently in Britain they don't throw around prescription drug names like that (and they're also amazed that Americans don't typically sleep in twin beds!).

In Britain, you take what the National Health dispenses, and if it doesn't work, well, there's always gin.

As for the twin beds, the Brits think you can fit two people in one--or at least the owners of a lot of B&Bs advertised as "doubles" do.

GARRETT:

Christ is in our midst!!

I wouldn't be in too much of a hurry to recover. When my son had to have his four badly impacted wisdom teeth removed, I spent four days with him. I woke him every half hour and changed the pads in his mouth as well as making sure he got his every-four-hour meds. He bled almost constantly for the four days and when we called his oral surgeon the man told us this was normal for the way my son's teeth were impacted. I don't know how badly you've been affected, but it took him four days to get over his bout with the oral surgeon.

Prayers for your recovery.

BOB

Bob,

Not too bad. My bleeding only lasted the first day. I've been fine, and today (only two days after surgery), gingerly ate a PBandJ sandwich with some soup.

However, I think I'm midly allergic to the penicillin because I get a terrible case of itchiness soon after taking it.

It might be the codeine in the percocel. My daughter had a terrible reaction to codeine when she was given Tylenol with codeine for a torn ligament.
