Dear Cantor Joseph,
Have you been getting a lot of Canadians working out Washington-way lately?

Alex Alex, Yes, I do believe that this ideas originated in an earlier attempt by Canada to tax emails. Protectionism for the postal service; but the phone companies balked. Joe

Dear Cantor Joseph, I may be weak in scriptural studies, but I'm good at other things! Alex

Sort of as silly as giving $350 billion in tax cuts to the rich while not having the guts to cut a dime in spending. Oh, wait, just today someone....

I'm a tax analyst specializing in telecommunications taxes and I say GO FOR IT.
I can see the audits now. "No, that email was never read and is exempt under Section 41(b). That one is excluded as a communique to a health provider."
Oh come on, everybody wants a little job security.

Oh come on, everybody wants a little job security. Cizinec, Ha, ha, ha, ha! Love it! What about emails that couldn't find a host provider? or receipts that come back telling you someone received your email and another that they opened it? Another inch to add to the tax code. Then the tax preparers can charge you 25 cents per email transmission. Maybe we can then fight for a tax deduction and make it seem like we are getting free money back? What if you forward an email? Who would be the responsible party? The original writer, the forwarder or the receiver? What about taxing posts to forums or message boards? Joe

Heard it all before and never have believed it! Brian, Not really a rant, Reaganite or not. I once challenged my Republican state senator in my business ethics class with regard to our infamous E-Check racket. He said the E-check program was important to reduce "particulates" emitted from automobiles. I told him that the only reason autos were being focused on was because ordinary voters didn't have a representative to vouch for them in their government. I asked about E-checking school buses and our public transit buses or trucks. He said they were not a problem (ignoring that they were protected by organized interest groups). So, I offered to chauffer him around Cleveland behind our city buses and school buses with the windows down. He didn't take my offer. The ordinary taxpayer didn't stand a chance without representation. He didn't like that comment since he was my representative. Business ethics is an oxymoron. Joe Thur

Axios,
Come on, "tax cuts for the rich!" is rhetoric from the 1980's. Get with 2003, man!
Last time there was a tax cut my family got its 600 dollar refund which helped pay the bills, so please don't say only rich people get cuts.
Why push that good old class warfare? 98& of American rich people do NOT inherit their wealth which means they got it by working. Our American dream is to get rich, but what do we have to look forward to if when we get there liberals like you are going to complain about us having "won life's lottery" to quote that nice guy Gephardt.
I don't have a problem with tiered tax levels like some of my other fellow Repubs but cmon, get real, you give a tax reduction it's obviously going to benefit those who pay the most percentage wise. That doesn't mean it won't help others. And who else is going to create the jobs that Dems say a tax cut WON'T create? The government? Please.
Your political friend,
anastasios :-)

I think it is thoroughly Byzantine, but not in a Church-like way. I think it isn't appropriate for the Forum at all.

Anastasios, I am only trying to be ecumencial and follow the teachings of your Catholic bishops! I don't understand the Republicans. They say a guy working a factory should pay a higher percentage in taxes on each dollar he makes by the sweat of his brow than the taxes paid by some guy sitting on his rear collecting a dividend. I say income from work should be taxed less than income from picking the right stock!!! Axios

Axios,
This is the honest to God truth...
My friend who was making $35,000 a year...was taxed so much that he asked his boss to cut his salary to $25,000, so with $25,000 he was actually taking a lot more money HOME!!!
So the tax cuts for the RICH only? Come on! The poor don't get taxed as much and even with the tax cuts, it'll help poor even more!!!
That's for real!!!
SPDundas Deaf Byzantine who WANT to be RICH!
By the Way, making 13,500 dollars more than few years ago...and I was actually being taxed way sooo much that I owe government money even if I put 0 on my status! I was not happy! Because when I made less than that before, I was bringing home almost like $800 to $1,000 a year!! But this year...I paid almost $200 more! GIVE ME A TAX BREAK NOW!!! (maybe that's what I should put on my T-Shirt!) Go for it REPUBLICANS!!!
