Hey, I don't care who's in power as long as the tax is extremely complicated and impossible to implement.

Of course, this horse won't run. There isn't a way to implement the tax and there will be too many ways to get around it. States can't even figure out how they are supposed to (and when they are allowed to) tax old voice services like teleconferencing, let alone VTNS type services; and these are much easier services to tax.

Republocrat or Demolican, you can't tax what you can't count.

I, by the way, am a Republocrat through and through. wink

This, my lords, ladies and gentlemen is what is known as "glurge", an email urban legend. There is no attempt to tax email; as several people have already pointed out it would impossible to implement and mind-bogglingly impossible to sort out. This story pops up from time to time. And btw, Coca-cola does not let you trade in pop-tops for dialysis, aol-warner does not give a penny to charity for each time you forward some heart-wrenching email missive about a blind,chair-bound,terminally ill child who wants to give the Pope a puppy so he can give it to PresidentBush and we will have world peace tommorow if you just forward this email to all of your friends or else you're just a miserable cold-hearted *&@#$%^ who doesn't care about the environment, our veterans, God or puppies........

I agree that this is not likely to be implemented because of the practical difficulties, but unlike the previous urban legends on snopes, this one checks out. The story claims the taxation idea was floated by Senator Mark Dayton in a committee hearing on Wednesday as a way to eliminate spam. The US Senate website verifies that he spoke on the topic, but does not yet have the text of his remarks online.

Axios,

This is the honest to God truth...

My friend who was making $35,000 a year...was taxed so much that he asked his boss to cut his salary to $25,000, so with $25,000 he was actually taking a lot more money HOME!!!

That's for real!!!

SPDundas
Deaf Byzantine who WANT to be RICH!

By the Way, making 13,500 dollars more than few years ago...and I was actually being taxed way sooo much that I owe government money even if I put 0 on my status!
I volunteer every March and April to help the poor and elderly prepare their taxes and can tell you that you made a mistake in your taxes if you and your friend got those results. Send me a private message and I will be happy to help you re-file your taxes which will be worth several hundred dollars to each of you.
