Driving around the Denver, Colorado metro area is a mess and giving people major headaches as they try to get around town.

The biggest storm to hit Colorado in October in twelve years is leaving roads packed with snow and ice and while crews are being credited with doing a pretty good job of keeping roads cleared, the snow is falling faster than crews can clear it.

Traffic for the last two days has been at a crawl and it likely won't get better until Friday when the storm moves out and sun starts to peek out again.

Many areas in the southern and western parts of the metro area have more than two-feet of snow on the ground and while major roadways are drivable, side streets are a lower priority for plow crews and getting into and out of neighborhoods is presenting a lot of challenges.

Schools are closed; so many parents are putting their kids to work clearing walkways, sidewalks and driveways of all the snow that has piled up.

Climatologists at Colorado State University in Fort Collins say these types of storms, packing this much snow, in October are rare, but they do happen. Those same climatologists say in an average year parts of eastern Colorado will see about 56-inches of snow. So far, this year about 25-inches of recordable snow has fallen.

The storm is forecast to move out of Colorado overnight and the sun is expected to return Friday.

I have deleted the headline Alice quotes from the opening post because I do not see it included on the linked piece - and therefore must conclude that it was a bit of editorialization by the OP.

Albeit I am no fan of former President Bush, I find it inappropriate that posters linking to news pieces fail to distinguish their personal comments (which they are most welcome to post) - instead adding those to and making them appear to be a part of the news item.

There is no Global Warming. There has never been any Global Warming.

Whether or not one supports the theories regarding Global Climate Change, as Christians it is our God-ordained duty to be stewards of the environment - waste, gas-guzzling monster trucks, pollution and the like are sinful habits which our descendants will have to deal with and which we will have to answer to God for.

Go on, Deacon Borislav...care to flesh that out?

It are often the wealthy who can afford the most efficient vehicles. Monster trucks are not road legal, and even a 13 mpg 2003 F250 is better on the environment than a 1970 Nova.

CO2 is not a toxin. I hope more is released into the atmosphere, my plants would love that and be the more green for it.

Read the archives here on the Forum. It's been fleshed out numerous times and backed with scientific data. There is ongoing climate change that is natural - cycles of warming and cooling. At the moment the earth's temperature is the same as it was in the 1930s. Global warming is a hoax.

It's more accurate to say that the alarmism being raised is a hoax by some, ignorance by others, and that man-made global warming is unproven and nearly unprovable.

What is shown is that general overall health in a community benefits from vehicular emissions reductions. There is little data showing emissions reductions will affect climate change, since the entire human contribution is dwarfed by the volcanic activity contributions.

Now, the areas around the Disney park complexess have seen localized and profound weather effects... but that's due to creating a rather impressively strong warm low pressure area due to the massive amounts of pavement re-emitting solar energy as thermal convective flows.

Man can make climate change. CO2 is not the established means, however. Damns, pavement, strip mining, off-shore barrier formation, and wind flow interruptions have all been shown to create profound persistent local climactic changes. CO2 isn't modeled well enough to accurately predict next month.
