For the last 5 years I've wanted to make a donation to a parish in another State, that I think has been doing a wonderful job of proclaiming the faith. I must have thought about it a hundred times over that period, but still didn't manage to get around to it. Finally this morning I decided it was now or never and so went to my bank to make out a check. In the parking lot an uncomfortable thought entered by head for which I quickly became ashamed. As I walked toward the bank building I wondered to myself, If I had another zero on my bank account, would I have added another zero to the check. My first thought was that that would be quite alot of money to be giving away. Then the reasoning behind it hit me. The more money I would have, the less generous I would tend to be with it, and this despite the fact that I'd have far more left over. That feeling scared me a bit, because like alot of people I've sometimes thought of all the wonderful things I'd do if I had 10 million dollars, and yet here I was feeling tighfisted about just another imaginery zero in my bank account.

Dear Lawrence:
Perhaps you're being a bit too harsh on yourself. To me, the fact that you're struggling with this shows that you are a generous person.
Sincerely,
Ryan

Athanasius The L is correct. Your act of generosity speaks for itself. May the Lord Bless you and keep you.

Shlomo Lawrence,
Speaking as a person who survives off of almsgiving, I can tell you that you have nothing to worry about. You are a truly generous soul; for only one that is worried if they are giving enough are the ones that do, and many times give till it hurts.
I have run into people that have just bought a couple thousand in products, but when asked to buy a sandwich says they do not have anything, whereas, I have met people who are either homeless like myself, or nearly so who will share the last of what they have.
God is truly in you, so do not worry.
Blessed are those that share what they have for they are the reflections of the Lord.
Fush BaShlomo, Yuhannon
